We at St Marys Baptist Church have always believed in being the presence of God in St Marys and in our neighbouring suburbs and reaching out with the good news of Jesus. For over twenty years we ran a school, out of school hours care, courses such as Journey101 for the community on emotional healing etc. In the recent past, God has directed us to serve the community by practically addressing the felt needs in our area with the love of Jesus. Below are our current initiatives. Jesus said, I have come to give life, life in full. Ultimately, our households, streets and suburbs can be transformed only through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Journey is our inner healing service. Many people live with significant emotional pain and wounds caused by hurtful event/s and the trauma connected to it. They often display symptoms such as irritability, little or no tolerance, strong feelings at the slightest offence, overly sensitive about the hurtful event, self-hate, hard to feel loved, hard to forgive, feeling of anger towards God and life, wanting to escape and so on. We believe through a journey of being heard, processing pain, patience, respectful partnership and prayer, people can experience freedom from the debilitating impacts of emotional wounds. It is a journey to joy.
Our facilitator, Rhonda Lever has herself experienced such freedom from her emotional pain and has been passionately helping people in Western Sydney (and in many other parts of the world) to experience.
Chaplain at OPPS
Oxley Park Public School (OPPS) is the nearest public school to our church. To support the school community (students, staff and families), we have partnered with GWFC Chaplaincy to place our Pastor as a part-time Chaplain at OPPS.
Some of our little children have very big problems. The Chaplain interacts with students to provide them with pastoral care and assist with their well being. He liaises with school leadership, well being team and teachers to help with the needs of students and families.
To benefit the entire school community, he runs classes and discussion groups on various topics to enhance resilience. He also runs the sports leadership program along with the GWFC Coach Keith Nolan. Our church supports some families in the school community with hampers during times of crisis and during Christmas.

Scripture Teaching (SRE)
At St Marys Baptist Church, we consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to teach children about our faith. We take the responsibility seriously and seek to love the children in SRE classes of our local schools as well as help them learn about God, the story of The Bible, and Jesus, what he came to do for us.
Our church has SRE teachers in Oxley Park Public School and Colyton High School. We use the Godspace curriculum for our primary students. At high school, we use CEP Connect teaching material called Thinkfaith.
As a church, we have to adhere to the policies and procedures for SRE as given by the Department of Education and NSW & ACT Association of Baptist Churches.
If you have any questions, please contact us. (see the form below)
